ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

The Starkville Partnership to Address Climate and Engagement (safeSPACE) project aims to address school climate and engagement in grades 6-9 in the Starkville Oktibbeha County School District. This project is housed within Partnership Middle School and Armstrong Junior High School.  The safeSPACE continuous improvement approach provides targeted technical assistance and support to school leaders and teachers to improve the implementation of a multi-tiered system of support and Positive Behavior Intervention Systems will provide services to students and teachers to promote a supportive academic, disciplinary, and physical environments in Armstrong Junior High and Partnership Middle Schools in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District.

The services provided by this project include boosting student and teacher morale by addresses School Climate and Culture, tracking and implementing school PBIS by using a PBIS app to reward positive behavior, conducting teacher training for topics that affect school culture and climate and partner with an outside counseling group to provide free counseling services to students and staff at AJHS and PMS.

This grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Safe and Supportive Schools.
