MILLSAPS CAREER & TECHNOLOGY CENTER
The Millsaps Career & Technology Center is located adjacent to Starkville High School and serves students in 9th-12th grade with Career and Technology programs. The mission of the Millsaps Center at SHS is to prepare students to further their educational opportunities or to enter directly into high skill, high wage careers after high school. The Center also serves families seeking adult-based learning in specific work skills and certifications.
As part of the Academic Houses at Starkville High School, 9th grade students enroll in the Freshman House and begin to personalize their high school learning path based on their chosen career pathway. In this house, 9th graders can begin the introductory courses in a Career and Technical Education pathway matching their career interest. Millsaps offers 17 four-year programs which allow students to earn a special CTE diploma endorsement along with industry certifications.
As part of their coursework, students participating in a CTE pathway enjoy project-based and work-based learning opportunities including industry site visits, job shadowing and student internships that can turn into real-world jobs after high school.
All students at Starkville High School and the Millsaps Center take an assessment and may earn the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness certificate, which measures and certifies essential work skills needed for success in jobs across a variety industries and occupations.
