On Wednesday, October 4, the Mississippi High School Activities Association and the Mississippi Association of Coaches announced 2023 selections for the state's two annual football All-Star games, and the Yellow Jackets are well-represented. Four members of the Starkville High School varsity football squad were tapped to represent the state.
Trey Petty, Starkville's 6'1", 200-pound senior quarterback, and Braylon "Stonka" Burnside, the Jacket 6', 200-pound senior wide receiver were selected to play in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Football Game on Saturday, December 16, 2023. The game will be played at M.M. Robert Stadium on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi, and kickoff is set for 12:00pm.
Jay Stevenson, the Jacket's 6'1", 205-pound senior running back, and Si Thomas, 6'2", 250-pound senior offensive linemang, are slated to represent the state's North Half in the annual Bernard Blackwell All-Star Football Classic on Saturday, December 9, 2023. The game will be played at Millner Stadium on the campus of Gulf Port High School, and kickoff is set for 11:30am.
Starkville High School Head Football Coach, Chris Jones will also serve as Mississippi's Wide Receivers Coach in the 2023 Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Football Game.
