Mississippi First Lady Elee Reeves reads a book to 4th grade students and answers questions

Mississippi First Lady Elee Reeves reads her book to 4th grade students and answers questions.

On Friday, Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District hosted a special guest who joined us to read to Ms. Hayley Henderson's 4th grade class at Henderson Ward Stewart Elementary. Mississippi's First Lady, Elee Reeves, stopped by to share her book, Mississippi's Fred the Turtle, with the class and answer questions about her role.

The coloring and activity book tells the story of Fred's adventures throughout the state, visiting notable sites and people as he travels to get back home to the Gulf of Mexico. Mrs. Reeves shared her own memories from growing up and traveling the state as she highlighted the activities found in the book. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions and learned what the Governor does every day, where Mrs. Reeves got the name "Fred" for the turtle in her book, and what it's like to live in the Governor's Mansion. Mrs. Reeves brought a copy of the book for each student in the class to take home.

Mrs. Henderson's class presented Mrs. Reeves with a special cowbell and made a donation to the HWS PTO in her name. Thank you to our First Lady for visiting the Hill and for sharing so many wonderful facts and experiences from across Mississippi.
