SHS Marks Second Year of JMG Program with Special Ceremony

Starkville High School celebrated the achievements of students who are participating in the Jobs for Mississippi Graduates (JMG) program during a special ceremony on Wednesday. This marks SHS’s second year of participation in JMG, an affiliate of Jobs for America’s Graduates Program (JAG), which is considered the most consistently applied model of school-to-work transition.

JMG seeks to develop each student’s leadership and career skills while also helping them to stay in school through graduation and secure an entry level job leading to a career and/or post secondary education.

SHS recognized several students for their commitment to career preparation, school attendance, positive behavior, civic association and social awareness during Wednesday’s Installation and Initiation (I & I) ceremony.

SOCSD Asst. Supt. Tori Holloway encouraged the students to stay the course.

“As you journey through life, remember nothing is impossible even though some people will tell you otherwise,” said Holloway. “Pursue your passion and leave a legacy as you dare to achieve your potential.”
