The Washington family has committed to supporting special education programs in the Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District as a way to honor their daughter Tiffany.
Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Washington presented their second annual financial gift of $500 to East Elementary School last month.
“When Tiffany passed away in 2013, our family wanted to find a way to honor her memory,” said Carroll Washington, Tiffany’s dad. “The following year our church, Greater Ebenezer M.B. Church, hosted the first annual Tiffany Washington Day, and we decided to use the money to give back to the schools Tiffany attended to support programs that really impacted her life.”
Tiffany graduated from Starkville High School in 2012. The Washington’s first check from Tiffany Washington Day was awarded to Starkville High School in 2014.
“We’re grateful to our church, family and friends who support this effort to honor Tiffany’s memory and to give back to the schools,” said Washington.
