SHS Band Collects Art Supplies for Students at Ruleville High School

SHS Band Collects Art Supplies for Students at Ruleville High School

By Nicole Thomas

From kindergarten to senior year, SOCSD’s fine arts program is an integral part of our students’ educational experience.

The Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education (MAAE) has unveiled a new program to place teaching artists in 20 Mississippi high schools to provide that same opportunity for student artists across the state. To support that effort, MAAE has launched a campaign for MS schools to share materials and supplies so that the arts can become an ongoing reality for talented students and their teachers throughout Mississippi.

The SHS Band is kicking off this campaign, and they need your help! Support student artists and the SHS Band’s efforts to collect art supplies for students at Ruleville High School by donating needed materials. Drop boxes are located at the SHS band hall and the T. K. Martin Center located at 326 Hardy Road on the MSU campus. You may also bring supplies to the SHS’s first public performance of the season at the conclusion of band camp on July 31 at 5 pm at the practice field.
