SSD declares Friday, April 3, a holiday

By Nicole Thomas

The Starkville School District will observe Good Friday on April 3 as a holiday.

Governor Phil Bryant declared a state of emergency on March 4 in preparation for a winter storm that impacted most of our state on March 5. Starkville School District was in the designated area affected by the Governor’s declaration. In accordance with MS Code 37-13-64, SSD is not required to make up the day of school missed on Thursday, March 5.

For this reason, SSD has declared April 3 as a holiday as originally designated on the 2014-15 school calendar.  All school and offices will be closed.

SSD will make up days missed on Feb. 25 and 26 on Monday, April 6, and Friday, May 22.
