SHS senior Carys Snyder is a candidate for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. She was selected for her exceptional academic performance on the College Board SAT, along with her superior artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities.

Carys, an outstanding student artist, was recognized by the National YoungArts Foundation for the strength of her art portfolio, and she was awarded highest honors from Mississippi Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her drawings. Her original works will be on display at the Mississippi Museum of Art beginning next week.

Carys was named a National Merit Finalist earlier this year, and she was accepted to Columbia University during the school’s early admission process in the fall.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, now in its 51st year, is one of the highest honors bestowed upon high school seniors.
