SHS junior Jacob Easley has been selected for the Mississippi All State Lions Band for the third year in a row.
Jacob will travel to Hawaii this summer to perform with student musicians and further his study of music. Jacob has traveled to Germany and Canada in previous years with the Lions Band where the band was crowned international champion for the 10th time since 2000.
Jacob is also a member of the SHS Jazz Band. He learned to play the trombone in the sixth grade when he joined the middle school band. In his first performance with the Mississippi Lions Band, he was only a freshman, which is very rare. According to the Lions Band, Jacob is the second best trombone player in the state. Last year, Jacob was ranked 5th. Jacob was also selected to perform with the MSU Honor Band and MSU Honor Jazz Band for his musical talents on the trombone.
