SOCSD Schools & Campuses Closed on March 25; Virtual Learning Cancelled

SOCSD Schools & Campuses Closed on March 25; Virtual Learning Cancelled

Due to a significant severe weather threat for Thursday, March 25, all schools and offices in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District will be closed.  Virtual learning for Thursday, March 25, is also cancelled.

Oktibbeha County is considered a Level 4 risk area.  The National Weather Service is predicting severe storms capable of strong and long track tornadoes, damaging winds up to 80 mph, and golf-ball sized hail.

The timing of the severe weather is forecast from mid to late morning through early evening which does not allow the District to safely plan for an early dismissal.

Please remain weather aware throughout the day tomorrow and review your family's severe weather plan.

The District will amend the calendar to include Monday, April 5, as a distance learning day for all students.
