The Starkville Oktibbeha School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved and adopted the academic calendar for the 2022-2023 school year during their regular monthly November board meeting. The academic calendar provides teachers and students with meaningful breaks along with two intercession periods for innovative learning opportunities. The intersessions offer students accelerated learning to catch up on key skills or enhanced learning to delve into their passion, purpose and potential.
The 2022-2023 academic calendar includes180 days for students and 187 days for teachers, which is the same as every school year. It also includes all traditional holidays, such as Labor Day, Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Martin Luther King, Jr., Spring Break and Easter along with extended breaks in the fall and spring in addition to a six to seven week summer break. Starting and ending dates for the academic year are adjusted to begin approximately a week earlier and end approximately a week later.
With thoughtful feedback from teachers, parents, community partners, and the modified calendar planning team, which includes teachers, administrators and other educators from each school campus, the academic calendar for the 2022-2023 school year is designed to support stronger teaching and learning experiences for students and teachers.
