Our student artists are buzz worthy! The Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District PTO celebrates the artistic talents of our students for their original works in drawing, painting, photography and writing with its annual Buzzys Art Awards.
All Pre-K-12 students enrolled in the Starkville Oktibbeha School District are invited to submit work to the VIRTUAL Buzzys Art Contest by January 10th, 2021.
Please do not bring student artwork to school. Students may submit one entry per category. All submissions will be collected electronically.
There are two different ways to send us your work, depending on the category of your entry:
CREATIVE WRITING entries should be emailed to: starkvillepto.buzzys@gmail.com
DRAWING & PAINTING entries should be submitted at this link: https://msuart.submittable.com/submit
PHOTOGRAPHY entries should be submitted at this link: https://msuart.submittable.com/submit
Here are the details:
Creative Writing Category:
• Writing submission must be an original work of the student.
• Writing submission may be typed or handwritten.
• Writing submission should be no longer than 5 pages.
• Writing submission should not have student’s name visible on the front.
DO NOT bring your Creative Writing entry to school. Email your typed electronic file or a photograph of your handwritten piece (using a smart phone, camera, or scanner) to: starkvillepto.buzzys@gmail.com and include the following information with your email message:
Student’s name, School, Grade and Homeroom teacher, Parent(s) or Guardian(s) contact information, Provide the title of work, Enter the student’s description of how they created their piece.
DEADLINE TO EMAIL SUBMISSION – January 10, 2021
Painting & Drawing and Photography Categories:
Submit a digital photo of an original work of art in any form of media (crayons, colored pencils, paint, photography etc.).
Do not place any names or identifying items on the front of your work or in the submitted photo of your work.
Each entry requires a separate submission.
Only one image is allowed per work.
Image must be a Jpeg (jpg) file.
Image must be in focus and cropped to show only the artwork.
To submit - Do not bring your artwork or submission form to school, instead you must complete all information on the online submission form at https://msuart.submittable.com/submit including your name, grade, school, homeroom teacher, category (Drawing & Painting or Photography), title of art work, parent/guardian name and contact information, and the student's description of how the work was made.
DO NOT bring your original work of art to school. Use a smart phone, camera, or scanner to create a digital file and submit online. https://msuart.submittable.com/submit
DEADLINE to Submit: January 10, 2021
Judging will take place in February. A VIRTUAL Awards Ceremony is planned for March 2021 to be held online with an online web gallery displaying all winning artwork. Stay tuned for more details. Winners will be notified prior to this event.
