Starkville High School recognizes six outstanding scholars from the Class of 2018 for excellent academic achievement. Sarah Heard, Noah Knox, and Sean Mackin have earned recognition as National Merit Scholars. As Finalists, Sarah, Noah and Sean are ranked among the highest scoring students in Mississippi. They are also three of about 15,000 academically talented students selected nationwide for the honor, which represents less than one percent of high school seniors in the country.
Tyler Dickerson, Reese Dunne, and Mackin were named Mississippi State University Presidential Scholars while Abigail Musser was named a Provost Scholar. The Presidential and Provost Scholarships are Mississippi State University’s most prestigious freshman awards. Each scholarship is awarded to 10-12 of the most outstanding entering freshman on a competitive basis. SHS's three Presidential Scholars represent the most from any public high school in the state.
