The Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District Board of Trustees approved two administrative changes for the 2018-2019 school year during its July board meeting.
Overstreet Principal Tim Bourne was named Director of Accountability, Accreditation, and Assessment while SHS Lead Teacher Cynthia Milons was appointed interim principal of Overstreet Elementary School.
Bourne, who began his career in the District in 2001 as a science teacher, has 15 years of administrative experience as a principal and assistant principal.
Milons, who joined the District in 2009 as an English teacher at Starkville High School, is a proven teacher leader. She was instrumental in the high school’s participation in Teach to Lead, a partnership of the U.S. Department of Education and ASCD which values teachers as experts in instruction.
“Bourne has a passion for data and how it should be used to drive instruction,” said SOCSD Supt. Eddie Peasant.
“Milons is an excellent teacher leader with a knowledge and understanding innovative, engaging classroom instruction, and she’s committed to building strong relationships that foster and support our students and teachers,”” said Peasant.
“Their strengths as administrators make them uniquely qualified for these positions,” added Peasant.
Bourne and Milons assume their new positions immediately.
