The Starkville Oktibbeha School District and Mississippi State University were recognized as partners in excellence for their work to reimagine middle school and teacher training with Partnership School.
The Mississippi Association of Partners in Education presented SOCSD & MSU with the University Partnership Excellence Award for Partnership School during the18th annual Governor’s Awards luncheon at Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg.
The MSU-SOCSD Partnership School, opening August 2020 on the campus of MSU, will house all of the District’s sixth and seventh grade students and serve as a training lab for preservice teachers.
The 128,000 square foot state of the art facility is designed to maximize hands-on learning opportunities with easy access to academic and cultural resources on the MSU campus, where teachers also collaborate to research, develop and dynamically implement best practices in classroom instruction.
The MAPE awards celebrate school-community partnership programs that produce outstanding results for students in K-12 public schools throughout Mississippi.
